The High Energy Materials Diffraction [[Beamline Advisory Group|BAG]] advises the MC group leader and APS management on instruments and infrastructure related to high energy x-ray diffraction microscopy (HEDM) and high-energy wide-angle and small-angle diffraction of materials and biomaterials,

=== July -- August 2009: Phase-II 1-ID upgrade ===

for the proposed Phase-II upgrade of 1-ID.

The same proposal was also sent to the [[Structural Characterization]] BAG on Aug 5

The chair stated in response "I am certainly in favor of the proposed construction of a new hucth so that each of the major programs at 1-ID can have dedicated space and keep their setups in place and optimized. There will clearly be benefits for all of the high energy programs at 1-ID. Repeatedly tearing down setups and rebuilding them is a waste of time and leads to less than optimal experiments."

=== June 2011: High Energy X-ray / Mechanics Workshop ===
Two BAG members (Miller and Suter) along with U. Lienert received an NSF grant to host a workshop that will focus on the use of HE X-rays and solid mechanics to understand complex materials.
